Who We Are

The main team at House Detectives have a range of specialist skills, all primarily focused on tracing the history and heritage of buildings – but complemented by extensive media experience, which allows us to bring our ideas to life in a unique way.

Members of our team have been researching the history of domestic houses and other property since 1996, either for private clients, professional companies and even TV shows.

Our name is derived from the BBC series ‘The House Detectives’, on which Nick Barratt first appeared. Nick conducted all the behind-the-scenes research for this TV series from 1998-2002 before moving on to research and co-present ten episodes of ‘Hidden House Histories’ with Jonathan Foyle in 2006 for the History Channel.
